25/11/2009 - Birmingham physicists are delighted that their experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), that aim to find what happened just after the Big Bang, will soon be underway as scientists have successfully collided together two low-energy beams of protons for the first time. 
23/11/2009 - New research  at  the University of Birmingham on Darwin’s Origin of Species, first published in 1859, 150 years ago today, has uncovered the moment when Darwin saw that his thought had changed the world forever. 
20/11/2009 - A pioneering new research centre which will use advanced techniques in computing and robotics to unlock the secrets of the brain is set to open at the University of Birmingham in 2010.

04/12/2009 (4.30pm) - This year we are proud to announce that the lecture will be presented by Dr Gillian Tett, assistant editor for the Financial Times.  The annual guest lecture is a chance to celebrate our doctoral researchers' achievements by holding a research showcase before the lecture.
