Cycle parking facilities are provided in numerous locations across campus. A programme of investment into new parking facilities is now underway. Phase one of the programme included the provision of a 40 space compound at the Munrow Sports Centre. Phase two included the provision of new facilities for the Medical School complex.
The Munrow Sports Centre also provides free use of its shower and changing facilities.
Bicycles are required to be secured in the cycle parking facilities provided by the University. If bicycles are left secured to railings, steps or other fixed objects; that may cause danger to others, the pedal cycle WILL be removed by security. The University of Birmingham WILL not accept any responsibility for any damaged caused to bike lock(s) or pedal cycles , due to the negligence of the cycle owner .
Secure cycle parking is now available at the Munrow Sports Centre. The new compound is located to the rear of the shelter that was installed last year and provides 40 cycle parking spaces only accessible through a pin protected gate. To register to use this facility please visit the Munrow Sports Centre reception and present your ID card. You will be asked to complete a short application form before being given the pin code. The pin code will only be given to a limited number of registered staff and students to ensure that spaces are as readily available as possible.

The University holds Cycle Roadshows to promote cycling to its staff and students. These events include activities such as Dr Bike undertaking free maintenance, cycle training, the sale of second hand bikes, West Midlands Police security tagging bikes and advice from the University Sport Birmingham's Thrive Team. The cycle maintenance and training is free to staff and students as funded by the University.
The next Roadshow will be on Wednesday 20th June.
For information on the next event visit the events page.
West Midlands Police will be selling d-locks and security tagging bikes every Wednesday lunchtime in the Police Room next to Spar in University Centre.
Unfortunately bike theft is always a problem around campus so West Midlands Police are working with the University to reduce it.
D-locks (the Police recommended secure bike lock) are being sold at a heavily subsidised rate in an effort to reduce the number of bikes being locked up with inadequate locks. £20 for staff, £15 for students
A programme of five 2 hour sessions giving a complete course of beginner cycle maintenance is being held at the Munrow Sports Centre. The sessions will guide you through basic bike maintenance, detailing how to check your bike is safe to ride and in good working order, how to fix a puncture and replace inner tubes, how to adjust brakes and gears and much more.

Cycling equipment such as locks, lights and hi-vis jackets are sold on campus every Wednesday lunchtime from the Police Room in University Centre. West Midlands Police subsidise the sale of d-locks to staff and students to assist in the reduction of cycle thefts on campus. These are the only type of locks that the Police recommend for securing your bike.
There is a police liaison room in University Centre which is open every Wednesday lunchtime between 12pm and 2pm to provide advice and sell equipment to cyclists. The office is routinely staffed by PC Jack Regan and members of BUBUG.
